About Us

The beginnings of Kompas mejni turistični servis d.d. date back to 1951, when it was established as a company dedicated to the provision of services associated with the transition of passengers and goods across national borders. The modern history of our company starts in 1991, when it was  turned into a limited company. The reorganisation process of its ownership  was successfully completed in 1995.

However, although Kompas MTS has been loyal to its core business from the very beginning, the company has always closely followed changes in market conditions, adjusted to them, evolved and expanded its activities in accordance with market dynamics. Our commitment to the continuous development of the company has shaped Kompas MTS into a strong enterprise, which now features a wide range of activities, a branched chain of business facilities along the entire national border, a highly developed computerized business technology and our competent staff.

Our company's most important activities, with tourism occupying the top spot, are:

• commercial activities carried out by the Kompas Shops;
• catering and accommodation;
• border tourist activities, consisting of sales of toll stickers and other services.

The company carries out its activities on 41,690 m2 of net operating areas and 275,000 m2 of land located at 23 major international road crossings with Italy, Austria and Croatia, while one Kompas Shop outlet is located in central Slovenia, in Zg. Jarše close to Domžale. Its headquarters are in Ljubljana, the company employing over 400 highly skilled and motivated workers in all its locations.

Our company's long tradition and experience is continuously enriched by newly acquired knowledge, as we endeavour to combine the latest approaches with socially responsible operations. It is thus that we remain on the path we drew for Kompas MTS from its very beginnings -  the path towards success and the continued growth of our company.
